Internationally esteemed wildlife artist Laney Hicks deigned and executed this commemorative artwork on behalf of the Wyoming Outdoor Council. Hicks indicates that the painting is about our collective historical heritage. The mythical Shoshone petroglyph, with the hand across the rock crack, represents the spirits emerging from or entering the rocks. The bighorn sheep represent the present and future. Hicks is a "naturalist artist" meaning she uses in-depth study of animal behavior and natural habitats as the basis for her artwork. A naturalist artists does not simply record a scene from nature but rather incorporates behaviors, reactions, settings in an effort to account for an accurate rendering of the animal's world. Artwork dimension 30 by 20 inches. Wooden frame.
