Description

During the 70s Kingwell lived in Durango, Colorado and frequently traveled to Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico on painting expeditions. Fred noted that, “This house was along the way and I occasionally painted it. Viki liked it because it had nothing to due with the all too famous Tetons!”

Fred loves to paint watercolors and feels they fit his personality, lifestyle, and the things he likes to paint. Fred emphasizes COLOR in his transparent watercolors. He is best known for his mountain landscapes, wildlife, and flower paintings. He has won numerous awards including being Wyoming's Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year and 3 Peoples Choices awards from the Wyoming Watercolor Society.
Framed size: 20 by 16 inches

Additional Information

This watercolor was part of the collection of Jackson Hole resident Viki Cross. As a co-owner of the Heart Six Ranch outside Moran, Viki was a devotee of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Fred noted Viki’s ability to zero in on his unique watercolors, "Viki always seemed to pick some of my most unusual paintings. I always felt she had some of my best watercolors.” Viki purchased the watercolors at various summer art fairs in Jackson Hole from the 90’s through the aughts. “She was one of my favorite patrons always asking for something that was unique or different from my usual work. It was always fun to try and find something that she liked. Most of the paintings were purchased unframed. It has been wonderful to see the paintings framed. The back of most of my paintings are dated, signed, and titled.”
