Via the artist: I used elements that were very meaningful to me in this piece. The background was an early ecoprint that I created. I added shells from a solo trip to Sanibel Island, a sea fan collected from a dear friend during a trip to Florida, scrim from another artist friend, and silk I printed. The ocean and sand are always calling me, and this piece reflects my love of the ocean combined with my treasured friends who bring me special pieces for use in my art.
With nature as her muse, Marj creates each piece of artwork with natural materials found on her excursions. Marj's artwork can be found in the art gallery at Artfully Framed.
Eco-printing is a technique where plants, leaves and flowers are steamed or boiled to extract their natural dye. Marj then arranges the plants onto fabric or paper to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
