“It all started in a small way back in 1934. My grandfather gave my father (Francis Curtis, Jr.) 50 buckets and spiles and two sap pans to encourage us to make use of some of the maple trees growing on the property he had purchased in Sterling Township in 1925. It was the primary sweetener in those days."
— Ralph K. Curtis (grandfather of Andrew Curtis, present-day maple producer)

Since 1981, Nature's Grace Health Foods & Deli has been the local vendor for wholesome alternatives to standard "fast food fare”. The store has taken a step beyond supplying health food by introducing the Natural Foods Delicatessen. The deli provides take-out soup, hot entrees and pita sandwiches as well as freshly-baked natural desserts. Many of our volunteers are long-time customers of this store, and they wanted us to say that Nature Grace's veggie burger in a pita is to die for. The store itself has all the elements it suggests - natural foods, vitamins, bodycare, appliances. But they also serve the community as a reference source of tools, ideas and examples as well as cook classes to share with those who are reaching for a more holistic lifestyle. Jamie Stunkard, store owner, is a nutritionist and naturopath and is available to help with your nutrition and lifestyle questions.

The Curtis Family is still tapping the sugar maples at Journey’s End Farm. It is a small family farm offering a diverse selection of ecologically grown vegetables, maple syrup, and free-range eggs. Everything that the farm sells is grown or produced on-site without the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, and with the intention of nurturing the soil and ecology of the land. You can find the syrup year round at the farm, online, and in November and December at the Main Street Farmers Market at the Cooperage in Honesdale, PA.
The highest bidder/winner of this auction will be able to arrange for pickup at the Cooperage.
