Rob Blakers, (1957- ) grew up in Canberra and completed a four-year zoology degree at the Australian National University, culminating in ecological research at Kosciuszko National Park in NSW.

In 1980 he worked with the Wilderness Society in Tasmania in the campaign to prevent the damming of the Franklin River. This was an extraordinary time in the lives of many people, and a campaign that was ultimately successful in its aim of protecting much of Tasmania’s southwest wilderness as a World Heritage Area.

Since then, Rob Blakers has continued to photograph wild places in Tasmania. Images have been used extensively in environmental campaigns and in a range of publications, as well as for fine art display.

Most of Rob’s photography is directed to forest and environmental conservation.
